It is scattered
A dozen apps, each with its own account and its own island of people. The street you live on is the one place none of them index.
The company behind the marketplace
It sounds obvious. It is not — not when the sofa is on one app, the car is on another, and your neighbour's listing is in a language you do not read. This is the story of what we did about that.
How close it all is
The bike you want, the dinner you pay for, the person who watches the children, the car you finally replace. Ordinary life covers almost no ground at all — and the people at the other end of every one of those are close enough to walk to.
What breaks it
Not because the distance is a problem. Because three things go wrong between two people standing four hundred metres apart, and they go wrong the same way whether the thing changing hands is a sofa or a bill at the end of a meal.
A dozen apps, each with its own account and its own island of people. The street you live on is the one place none of them index.
Your neighbour writes in the language they think in. So do you. Half of what is nearest to you is written in a language you never search in.
A name, a photograph, and nothing behind either. When a deal goes wrong there is no one to answer for it, so the safe move is not to deal at all.
What we made
Four things, and none of them is a product. They are what a product needs to exist before it is worth building: who you are, in a language everyone reads, with someone accountable at both ends and the money held until the thing has actually changed hands.
One identity, one reputation, one set of addresses and cards — and every surface we build sits on top of it rather than beside it.
Write once, in the language you think in. Everyone nearby reads it in theirs, and the half of the market that never met each other finally does.
Identity checked once, carried everywhere, with a rating that follows the person rather than the listing.
Held from the moment you pay until the thing is in your hands. Neither side has to go first.
Where it goes
Each of these is the same four things, aimed at a different corner of an ordinary week. None of them needed a new account, a new language, or a new reason to trust anyone.
“Everything you need is already close. We just make it easy to reach.
